In law school, he was a member editor of the South Carolina Journal of International Business and was a law clerk at the South Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee. Under the guidance of Senate Attorney Katherine Wells, he worked in the areas of judicial merit screening, lotteries and gaming, historical preservation, and budget issues for the Senate Judiciary Committee.
