Whetstone Perkins & Fulda – Largest Verdict in SC of 2016
Whetstone Perkins & Fulda are very proud and honored to announce the official recognition of an important medical malpractice verdict we achieved last year. Our law firm achieved the largest verdict in South Carolina last year, according to South Carolina Lawyers Weekly. They recently published the top 10 SC verdicts from 2016.
We are honored to have successfully achieved this verdict on behalf of our client. You can read more about her story here. Our attorneys Mr. Fulda, Mrs. Perkins and Mr. Whetstone ultimately won $6.9 million on behalf of our client, who has received a terminal diagnosis of breast cancer.
Her case revolves around her appointment with a radiologist, prior to her diagnosis. The radiologist failed to recognize and detect breast cancer in our client’s mammogram. She was told her calcifications were benign. But she in fact had a cancerous tumor. Her breast cancer spread, and she received a delayed diagnosis.
After her two-week trial, the jury ultimately awarded her and her husband $4.8 million in economic damages and $1.4 million in non-economic damages. Her husband was awarded $700,000 for loss of consortium.
