Greenville, SC — Ms. Perkins, Mr. Whetstone and other counsel, represented the South Carolina Attorney General in this case, which was an action brought on behalf of employers in South Carolina involving Worker’s Compensation Insurance. The claim was for recoupment of losses sustained by employers who were squeezed into the Worker’s Compensation residual market. Our attorneys were opposed by more than 29 defense attorneys in the matter, both locally and nationally. Motions and discovery lasted four years and the production of documents exceeded one million documents. The settlement consisted of a $24.5 million immediate cash payment plus future relief consisting of programs, incentives and discounts having a value of $8 million.
